Benefits are sometimes included in your compensation package and they cost the company an additional 30-40% in addition to your salary. Prior to any negotiation discussion, you need to determine what benefits you need and what benefits you want.

Signing Bonus |
Employer provides a financial bonus when an employee is hired. |
Stock Purchase or Savings Plan |
Employer offers a) access to a stock purchase plan or savings plan, b) contributes to an employee’s savings plan, or c) employee’s to purchase stock at a discounted rate. |
Telecommuting |
Employer offers flexible working arrangement (i.e. working from a home office.) |
